Dear Diary,
It’s been 5 days since the last entry, and it’s been largely a counterproductive week.
The level 3 therapy is extremely painful, far more than the injury itself was, and so I get back from it extremely exhausted and just crash. Whatever time I have, I spend on my daughter, and whatever willpower I can muster to do some work.
I have not been eating or sleeping well during the first 3 days of this hiatus - pain during the night had been quite intense, and lack of sleep slows healing and creates bad, bad cravings.
Over the past two nights I had been testing new painkillers - Diclo Duo and Imensa. Diclo Duo is perscription only, because it is pretty dangerous in terms of blood clots - which is especially important now in the post-vax era where everyone vaccinated is more susceptible - and Imensa is a mix of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. These help, and I have been able to sleep the last 2 nights rather well, which turned things around - the rest helped improve my leg flex at therapy and made me feel comparatively great in the morning.
I still regularly do WHM and it helps with morning pain, but quickly wears off when things get real. I am at 1:45m with cold showers now. 10 days to go until I can drop into the cold plunge.
In terms of habits, I keep doing Kinetec when I can but really the therapy is intense enough for me to just do nothing at home.
In therapy, I now do:
full-bodyweight single-leg half-squats on a half-ball, each leg
ladder balance-assisted squats down to as low as I can go (80 degrees or so)
calf raises and extensions on the half-ball
standing ladder-assisted rubber-band side leg extensions
standing ladder-assisted rubber-band back leg extensions
In addition to this, I still do magnet, electricity on my knee, electricity on my quad. Laser is out of the equation now because my scar is healing very well.
And of course, the manual AP flexing by the therapist. A degree or two every day, trying to get to the maximum of 135 in the next few months.
Regarding my trigger finger (which is still there), I have arranged to take a shot of corticosteroids into the swollen nodulae next week to reduce the inflammation - as the PT exercise got more intense and I need to grip the ladder, the condition got worse too - one day my middle finger locked up in the morning to the point where I had to force it open.
Nutrition
Mainly fast food and junk, feeling terrible.
Resetting to health now that I am back in the groove and finally sleeping again.
Habits
I maintain all the habits still, little to no change there.
