Dear Diary,
I got my Zwift runpod today.
Not only does it not work well with Garmin Fenix 5 (contrary to what the internet says) - as it keeps losing connection and thus gapping out the pace on both cycling and running…
… but it also isn’t findable by its own app (and yes, I checked the battery - the thing glows green when I wiggle my foot, and I made sure bluetooth works on the phone).
It does become available when using desktop and run mode (seems like the pod is just for running and not cycle cadence?), so I will try that tomorrow on the treadmill.
With Garmin, sometimes the watch will, in the middle of an exercise, ping about having connected to Zwift Runpod, but then in the review it will be obvious that it kept losing connection.
I’ll report back on the treadmill + run app mode on the Macbook, see if that is better.
Next up, I also gotta try out the NPE Runn and see if I can make that one talk to Garmin automatically during exercise. Shouldn’t be too hard.
Manageable Goals
As a reminder, the goals I have for myself this year are:
do something physically challenging every day
do something mentally challenging every day
try to walk 5+ km every day
stay below 75kg of weight
do 1 focused hour of at least one of the following activities every day:
ukulele practice
illustration
coding
reading
read two books per month and write a short review of each.
No rigid numbers, no too-hard-to-follow discipline. Just be better. Every day.
